Warranty & Repair Policy

This policy applies to all JOBY products purchased from our online store or any authorized retailer.

For orders placed directly on JOBY.com that are within 30 days of delivery, please see our Return & Refund Policy.

1. Warranty Coverage

JOBY warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Our goal is to ensure your gear performs exactly as intended.

  • Original Purchaser Only: This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser.
  • Proof of Purchase: This warranty is invalid if sufficient proof of purchase (original sales invoice or order number) cannot be provided.
  • Geographic Limitation: This warranty is valid only in the country or region of original purchase. While we encourage traveling with your gear, this policy is in place to protect against unauthorized dropshipping and resale.

2. Warranty Duration

  • Standard Warranty: All products carry a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase, unless a different period is specified on the individual product page.
  • Extended Warranty: Some models may qualify for an extended period; please refer to your product page or invoice for details.
  • Warranty on Replacements: The warranty for any replaced product aligns with the remaining warranty period of the original item or 3 months from the date of replacement, whichever is longer.

This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser.

3. Warranty Remedy

If a valid defect arises during the warranty period, JOBY will, at its sole discretion:

  1. Repair the product using new or refurbished parts.
  2. Replace the product with a factory-refurbished unit of equivalent value (or a new unit if refurbished is unavailable).
    1. For discontinued or limited-edition models, JOBY will replace the item with a product of comparable or greater value.
  3. Partial Refund: If a replacement is not available or a refund is preferred, JOBY may offer a partial refund based on the duration of product use.
    1. Note: The original product warranty becomes void once a full or partial refund has been issued for any reason.

4. Exclusions

This warranty does not cover:

  • Damage from accidents (like falls), misuse (such as water damage or extreme temperatures), abuse, neglect, or unauthorized modification
  • Normal wear and tear or cosmetic damage
  • Loss or theft
  • Free products (promotional items or "gifts with purchase")
  • Items purchased from unauthorized 3rd-party sellers, including items purchased from resale websites or stores like eBay
  • Items repaired or tampered with by unauthorized 3rd party repair centers

5. The Warranty Process

  1. Contact Us & Submit Details: To start a warranty claim, contact service@joby.com and provide:
    1. Proof of purchase (order invoice/receipt)
    2. Product serial number
    3. Photos/videos of the defect
    4. Tip: Providing documentation of your troubleshooting steps will help your claim proceed faster.
  2. Get Approval: Your warranty claim must be approved by JOBY Support before you send any items to us. If you send an item without an approved claim, JOBY reserves the right to send the item back at your expense.
  3. Shipping
    1. Valid Claims: JOBY covers all shipping costs for valid warranty repairs/replacements.
    2. Invalid/Expired Claims: The customer is responsible for all shipping costs if the warranty has expired, if the issue is not covered (see Exclusions), or if the warranty is found to be invalid. In these cases, the customer must provide JOBY with the courier name and tracking number once the item is sent.

Claim Expiration: Once a warranty claim is opened, it must be completed within 90 days. Claims will expire if the item is not returned or if communication ceases beyond the 90-day window or the original warranty period (whichever is longer).

6. Liability & Personal Items

  • Personal Items: JOBY is not responsible for personal items left in or sent with your warranty claim. Personal items sent to us will not be returned.
  • Consequential Damage or Data Loss: JOBY is not responsible for any consequential or incidental damage, including data loss, resulting from the sale or use of any JOBY products. Our liability is limited to the monetary value of JOBY products only.
  • Transit Risk: For out-of-warranty repairs or invalid claims where the customer pays for shipping, the customer is responsible for any damage or loss in transit. JOBY does not provide refunds/replacements for these items if damaged during shipment.
